Default New manufacturing location for Meyle...

I had to swap a couple of upper control arms and one lower one on the avant because of a pinch bolt disater during a CV boot replacement. Also replaced the inner and outer tie rod ends (accordian boot was ripped, outer tie rod end fused to the inner, so had to do the whole deal). I ordered Febi arms, but was sent 2 Febi and one Meyle one due to a backorder, and a Meyle tie rod. Both of the Febi arms didn't have a stamp for where they were made, but the Meyle parts had "Made in Turkey" stickers on them. I guess that's a step up from China...

I'd say that's a horizontal upgrade at best.

Default First Meyle parts I'd gotten labeled as from Turkey

My prior Meyle stuff had no stickers on them, so they may have come from there too. I wonder if they're doing it to say their parts aren't Chinese?

Default The whole meyle thing is a ploy IMO.

See vendors at the point of sale, online or on the phone can say "oh its German" rather than say it is made by Meyle I know not where. I've got one aftermarket vendor that pulls this **** with me or tries to. When actually the item is made in Turkey or China. I find this deceptive and will not touch Meyle parts.

I've read excuses like "we want people to know we're a German company". But really, I believe it is to provide a false sense of value and cloud judgment of the customer.

There are a number of parts which VW/Audi sells as OE that are made in China. The 1J0-A fuel filter is made in China, but if you get the aftermarket Mahle or Mann one it is made in Brazil iirc. That is entertaining IMO.

Default I Did an upper CA yesterday as well.

Like yours, the box was stamped "Made in Turkey", but "Made in Germany" was stamped into the metal on the backside of the ball joint.

Maybe final assembly & packaging is done in Turkey?
