Finished installing a B&M short shifter - and what a ball ache. But glad it's done. HUGE difference.
Didn't want to take the entire console off so was working in very cramped spaces. Kept losing bolts and bits into the hole and having to take everything out to get them (magnetic thingy wouldn't always get them.
Now - just waiting for a new custom (much shorter) shift boot to arrive and the job's done.
Thanks to the FAQ's here I was able to do the job. Thanks to AW!

As mentioned - working on a 1997 model - and it doesn't have the faceplate around the gearshift that lifts up as in later models. So space is very limited. Some of the nuts were under the console and set back several inches, making them hard to get on and off.
It can stillbe done (as I've proved) but would have gone a little easier if the whole console was off and I had complete and easy access to all the bolts.
