It makes a bit of noise, but i'm told its better than no fairing -- i wonder if its worse than the old ones, but the good news is, it doesn't seem to damage the paint.

First of all, your pictures look great! Beautiful car! And bike too. ;-)
The Yak racks are definitely high quality, and yours looks good on the car. However I would be really leery of a fairing which is "suspended" above the roof like that one is. When you are moving forward, there is a downforce on the fairing, and it will push it against your paint.
Can it be adjusted so that it rests against the windshield, instead of the roof?

Haha, just kidding. Incidentally, I've always mounted my fairings with the label (thule in my case) mounted inwards, so its just flat black from the front view. I never liked the HUGE THULE lettering/advertisement on my cars.
I like the new fairing style, however, it seems a bit smaller and looks like it won't damage the car's finish, as you indicated. Looks good.
I hate to keep my rack on the car at all times, as I hate the noise, looks, etc. I have the short (2 piece) bike trays to make taking the rack off and on a bit easier, and the two pieces are much easier to store as well.
I ride a Litespeed mountainbike, BTW. Looking for a used road bike. I need to buy by the fall/winter for training over the cold season. Riding my trainer indoors all winter is awfully boring.
Have fun!
