okay I just got an A4 a few days ago 99 8300 miles (sorry not brand new)
anways its a 1.8T and I find it rather lacking in the power. Its decent but I was expecting alot more. Then I found out that the chips for A4 are alot more beneficial than non turbos. I've read the FAQ and i'm still wondering a few things.
First of all warrante is what worries me the most. I still have 1.5 years left on it and I don't know if I should hold out. What will happen when I take the car in for serviceing? (BTW for those who live in my area which is Washington, I bought the car from Audi University).
I will probably go for a .8 bar... I don't really need that super performance from a 1.0 and .8 are CHEAPER right?
So with .8 what are my choices?
What are the pro's and con's of each brand?
.8's are around $200 right?
I appreciate all the help, because I know squat about Audi's.
Oh I was aslo thinking of getting new spark plugs someone told me it helps make it accelerate faster??

AutoThority makes a great .8 bar chip. When the search archives come back, check out the reviews.
Although warranty invalidation is a risk, it should not be a big concern. First, hundereds of active participants who post here have chipped (most 1 bar) and there have only been a few cases of problems that may (or may not) have been the result of the extra boost. A greater risk is the andverse effect on the longevity of the engine. Clearly, putting more boost and hp through the engine will create greater wear and tear over time. The 1.8 is a durable engine - most of us are not worried. The next biggest risk is that you'll rack up the speeding tickets. The final, and biggest risk, is that the chip will be the first domino in an endless aftermarket buying spree. Here's what will happen:
1) Chip
2) Air Filter
3)Mobil 1
4) New wheels and tires
5) new grill
6) clear corners
7) suspension
8)exhaust
9)intake
...not to mention the V1 you'll need to keep the speeding tickets at a minimum.
Good luck.
