Default Newport Audi Chip Friendly? Talked to a Newport Audi sales rep...

He said that there are some chips that they will be "okay" with and that there are some that Audi as a manufacturer will "NOT" void the warranty over. Is this guy for real or is he talking out of his @$$?

Get him to be specific about which chips are "okay" and which aren't.

Default He's a salesman. His job is to SELL!

Audi is not okay with ANY chip, period! Some dealerships are okay with chips, but if Audi starts snooping around, you better believe they will follow the company line.

Ask him to put that statement in writing, with a guarantee that ANY Audi dealer will service your car completely under warranty if anything should happen.

Default Make friends with the sales advisors...Newport Audi doesn't care about chips..

as long as you don't have a problem that is a result of a chip. They aren't going to blackball you because you have a chip in it. If something happens, just put the stock chip back in...the reason dealerships are so hardcore is because they need to cover their ***. If AofA finds out that you have a chip in your car, and that the problem was a direct result of a chip, the dealership will not get reimbursed for the repairs and they have to eat the cost.

gotta agree with Ed, make nice with your Service Manager, forget the salesman! I had the entire turbo with upgraded lines and heat shield replaced in my old '97 A4 and it was chipped

Jewel

ps- not at Newport, but another so cal dealer.
