Default Next Coil Pack Victim?

Started the car just a few mintues ago to let it warm up before I took off. Idles a little rough around 900RPM, but if you give it a little gas it smooths out and runs fine. So I figured I'd let it warm up a bit more and see if that solved the problem. When I came back out a few mintues later...Blinking CEL. DOH!

Uhg.

Ofcourse it's a blinking CEL, so I'm not supposed to drive it, and it's a sunday so I won't be able to talk to a service Rep at HBL until tomorrow. After it sits for a little bit I'm going to give it another try, and see if the CEL just goes to solid so I can at least get a few things done today.

Still glad I don't drive a Honda tho

Default Blinking CEL is one of the sure bets of a bad coil pack. But it should drive really bad, not

just on idle. It will feel like you are running on 2 cylanders.

I am looking into VW coil pack compatibility. Audi is still behind the times here.

Default I was gonna say it might be the coil pack amplyfier...however u got a 2001.5 and u don't have that.

The cel light is not gonna go solid by letting the car sit....The cel will blink at ya...
DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR....
Get a coil pack on Monday.

Default

Same part for the 1.8T's at least so shortage is applicable to both brands unfortunately.

Default Up date ... I let the car sit for a view minutes, now it run rough all the time....

I can just listen to it and tell that it's missing all the time now.

The reason that I said that it might go to Solid CEL is because the first summer I had the car it did something similar, but when I shut the car off for a few mintues, it ran fine. The dealer just said that it had been a missfire (before I got VAGCOM).

But now it sounds like a dump truck at idle. I'm tempted to just have it towed to HBL and tell them to deal with it. However dropping it off tonight will likely mean that I can't get a loaner from them.

Default As of late however, VW Dealers are in abundant supply.

VW and Audi do not deal on a same level basis. They work through the parent company. My guess is VW because of unit numbers got more alloted and Audi got less and the numbers are balancing out and things should all be caught up soon. However, my car sits on the dealer lot waiting.

Default Sitting at the dealer waiting???? Crap. Well the tow truck just took off with my car.

Haven't been able to leave a message with my service advisor (John Lindeman), but I did give the tow driver a writeup of the problem to drop in the box with the keys. Hopefully I'll be able to get ahold of John tomorrow morning early and get every thing figured out.

Default I waited nearly a month for mine... know how you feel!

The Christmas shutdown really helped ease the demand on both Audi and VW. Coilpack allocations are still based on need, and like you said there are more VW's around. Do you have a VW dealership in town that your parts department could snipe some parts from?

Yeah, there is a VW shop right down the street. Maybe I'll luck out.

Default I am just double checking to see if they call for the same part number.

The dealer Bryan works for has like 20 of them.
