Default nitrogen filled tires

anyone here have their tires filled with nitrogen? i had my tires rotated and rebalanced today at costco and saw that they're filling tires with nitrogen now as opposed to air.

It's just a marketing gimmick. You won't notice any difference in regular street driving.

less fluctuation to pressure with changing temps.. more consistent pressure i suppose is the idea.

Default We did it for some endurance road races.....

Kept our tires from over-heating during the day. Easier to get the right flex characteristics on motorcycle radials.

No prob. It did give us better tire life on the slicks we used.

Default Yeah, it's just their way to try to bring an uneducated customer to the store...

Something their marketing department has concocted. :-)

Nitrogen costs them nothing or next to nothing, yet they portray it as if the customer is getting something of value, for free, if he buys tires from them.

Besides, how much nitrogen can they really add? I mean, by the time they mount a tire, a lot of atmospheric air is already there. I don't think they completely flatten all the tires to suck all the atmospheric air before filling them with nitrogen.

Anyway, like I said, unless you race on the tires and experience wide temperature fluctuations, nitro in your tires isn't really useful.

Default Whoa Damon!...

You're back to Audi? What happened to your sweet 330ci? I know you had some quality issues with it. Was it that bad?
