Default No free control arms for me...

Took our 2000 30v(70k) into the dealer this am for the control arm recall and they said they were still tight, so free control arms. Bugger! Well, bought a $119 OEM battery though, it needed it.
I don't know what their definition of tight is. When I looked at it, the pressed bushing looked pretty damn tired me. To Audi's credit, the joint had the usual movement for 70k(not near falling out but showing its age). Good luck to those tring to get free control arms out AOA.

only a matter of time... Did they charge you for the control arm examination?

Default Nope, that was free, per the recall......

If we still have the car at 100k, I'll replace the control arms with the Meyle set and upgrade the tie rod ends(already done once under warranty at 45k).

Default Should have just waited to have it checked....

my dealer told me the checks run till sometime in 2006. If you get it checked now you get taken off the list and if they go later you're SOL. I'm just going to wait till they go or just have them checked in 2006 sometime, well, officially checked of course

Remember though, your only getting two out of the 8 arms needed to rebuild the front end(its a freeby, but not a big one). And we're probably going to get rid of the car soon anyway.
