I have 5527 miles on my 98 A4 1.8TQ and no oil light. Called my dealer and he said it should have come on at 5K. Does chipping (WETT) my car have anything to do with it?
I think I sent my ECU away at approximately 1K miles. Does this mean I should expect my OIL light to come on at 6K miles or is something else the culprit?

I have a 97 A4, the service interval is 7500 miles
the oil change reminder arrives at approx. 600 miles b4 the change interval
4 what it is worth my (2nd car)Ford Explorer's computer recommends oil changes at close to +- 9000 miles based on my driving conditions, although Ford recommend every 5000 miles (I have the V8 5.0L).
Some BMW models do not give recommended oil change intervals, the interval is based upon the computers decision of when the engine oil requires changing.!!!!!
