My 2000 A4 2.8Q front wheel sounds like it has rocks in the hubcap, but of course, I don't have hubcaps. It rumbles at slow speed, continues whether or not I'm in gear, but stops when I brake. It doesn't sound like the rear wheel bearings did when they went bad, as they were a more constant noise and continued at all speeds. If I raise the car and spin the wheel, there's no sound or looseness. Any ideas?

It didn't make any noise at all speed, but would make the rumbling/grinding noise at low speed. I only heard it for about two days before I changed it so it may have gotten worse over time, but I could only hear it at low speeds. I switched it, and all of the rest of the bearings out, and never heard the noise again.
