Default Non-G12 coolant

My wife had the coolant light come on and the dippy mechanic at the local shell station put in some 'normal' coolant for her, what a guy!

Is my 2001 2.8 going to explode or can it wait 1k miles or so for a change?

Default you have to flush it out. then put new coolant in

this is the same situation im in. my bodyshop didn't know about audi coolant, put the green stuff in there, now i gotta flush the whole system. i brought it to the dealer they said its okay for a couple of weeks but told me to come back and do it, they were gonna charge me 200. i rather flush it down myself and refill on my own.

Default What happens if you dont use genuine coolant?

Cant you flush the factory stuff out properly and just use an aftermarket coolant?

Does anyone know what happens if you use non-G12 coolant? Is my car going to pop or is it just recommended to use the 'real' stuff?

I've got another 2 weeks until its time to dig back into my EFK replacement, I'd rather not do it twice in a month!

Default It all depends. If the coolant was aluminum friendly, and it was only a very small amount,

it might be fine for a while. If they used a lot, and it was not specifically aluminum friendly, I would get it flushed ASAP.
