Normal vs. Abnormal Power Steering Noises?

Reading too much on this board can get one paranoid! I'm seeing that a bunch of you had P/S failures, preceded by noises.
When I'm parked or moving very, very slowly, turning the wheel makes a very subtle low "wmmmmm" (best I can describe it) sound. I hear no noises at driving speeds and the the steering seems to turn fine without binding. And no leaks, P/S fluid is clear (green tint).
So, is that sound normal? I don't recall hearing it in other cars I've driven, but maybe I wasn't paying attention 'cause they've not been a problematic part.
Let me know if I'm goin' overboard with this, or if this noise is something I should be worried about.
Thanks,
Al

my dads chevy makes that sound everytime you get anywhere close full turn left or right. it never happened in my audi until i got a leak in my PS and was low on fluid. adding more fluid made the sound go completely away.

and the rpms usually drop a little bit. Check the fluid level just to make sure. When mine gets low on fluid it usually makes a grinding noise when its cold.

Thanks, all. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. The fluid is up to snuf level-wise, so it's probably just the normal noises a rack makes. I'm saving up for a timing belt change so any other thought of a co$tly part is not something I want to entertain.
