NOS for Audi 1.8TQ.......thoughts/opinions/experiences..

I recently saw a show where NOS was being added to a corvette, and increased the hp by 100++ and torque by 200++. The whole kit cost about 750. This led me to think about adding NOS to my car. It's a cheap, good hp to cost ratio, and can make the car fast for when u need it. I'm not a big heavy footed driver, but it'd be nice to have 300 or more hp on tap when I wanted.
Now before you go all insane on me for being "fast and the furious" or "ricey" or whatever, please give your reasons. I wouldn't be plastering my car with NOS stickers, or any stickers at all. I wouldn't go out looking for races just to use NOS. It would just be for those occasional interstate mergings, or the occassional friday night run in with a Honda Civic ricer.
So what do you think? Has anyone done this on a 1.8TQM A4? Is it safe to do? Who makes a good, reliable kit? Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

There's a few 1.8T'ers running wet shots in the 50-60 hp range without a problem. Shouldn't be a problem at that range at all. There's a kit coming out for 1.8T soon too. When you start talking 100 shot, or dry shot, thats when your asking for trouble. I'd be thinking long and hard about the cost of clutch replacement before going this route..

Nitrous acts like a cheap turbo charger, adding air to the fuel mixture to increase fuel consumption. But you're already doing that on a 1.8T because you have an actual turbo charger. Plus, the performance you get will be proportional to the engine you start out with. That vette has a displacement advantage. You'll get a boost, but I doubt it'll be anywhere near 100hp.
