Not to beat a dead horse... (1) shuddering (2) suspension squeeks (long)
99 1.8TQMS Issues
After checking the archives and FAQs, I still don't have an answer on these 2 problems. I'm going in to have service next week, and would like current thoughts on these:
1. Squeeks -- When going over small sharp bumps the suspension makes sharp little squeeking sounds. Cause? Solution?
2. Shudder -- In 4th or 5th gear (approx. 3600 - 4800 RPM) at moderate highway speeds, when I put the throttle to the floor and hold it there, I feel a slight but noticeable shudder. It occurs 1-2 times per second, and continues until I let up on the throttle. It's a bit like a stumble, as if a cylinder weren't firing. Sometimes it also occurs at neutral throttle in 4th and 5th gear between 40-75 mph. I'm pretty sure I'm not dragging the engine (i.e., using wrong gear for the engine speed). It's more noticeable on smooth roads. Is this the infamous driveline shudder? Any fix?
I welcome any opinions (as long as they're good ones).
