nother thing...the LCD display for the temp and fan control.....
dunno if its lcd or not, but that is not what i;m asking. I need to know if it is supposed to flash? I will be driving and the two screens just flash bright for a sec then go dim again? Why? Does God hate my car?

same bulbs are in the instrument panel cluster.... tiny .9 1.0 and 1.1 watt bulbs.
the dealer doesnt carry them to my knowledge, they prefer to sell you the whole thing. Its a crock of **** but thats audi for ya.

may also be the socket has an intermittent connection and needs to be resoldered ...
i've heard of others who have had to do this. quattrofrog is right that you can go to an import auto parts shop to find the instrument blubs. the original blubs were 0.8W, but they didn't have them ... so i replaced with 1.5W. I replaced all of them so the brightness would be the same across the unit and the load would be same (i've heard they'll prematurely burn out, if you don't replace them all).
