sigh.. my 99.5 a4 is sitting in the bay of a local stereo installer who successfully installed a subwoofer in the trunk, and is trying to get the 8 disc changer to be recognized by the Audi deck.
Unfortunately, that's not happening. They said they called Audi and they said it should work like a champ. They also called "Peripherals" and are waiting for a call back from one of their engineers to help them along with the adapter.
Anyone experience this before? Thought someone out here might have the magic nugget of knowledge that will help me help them.
Fingers crossed .jay

and that some dealers have done this to force you into bringing the car in to upgrade to the CD. Mind you, I only have this hear-say.

I think some people are embarrassed by being rippied off by the dealer so they say that, but it is not true. Discs 7 & 8 work just fine by using the < > bottons that change the radio station (FR & RR select the track). Dealer may have to reprogram radio to recognize the CD changer. Just ask a tech to do, takes < 5 minutes w/VAG. However, i got mine from autotoys.com, and it didnt work out of the box. Had to send it back, a hassle because autotoys.com customer service sucks. But the changer is great, never skips, sounds great, and i love having the extra two discs.
Good luck
