Default Oh, and to postwhore... got my Ecodes too! Not in yet though..........

I need to figure out how to wire them into my early '99..... I guess I could get the install wire kit, that's still available right? ECS or????

I'll find it.

Here's one of the lights anyway.

Default just call around at your local VW dealers for the prices on these...

8DO-973-734 (harness) qty: 2
000-979-225-A (wire/terminal) qty: 4 (3+city lights)

I go everything for around $34.

Default Are those the wires *inside* the light? I have those......

It's just that the wire harness on the outside is the semi oval 7-8 pin connector and my early '99 has the other style plug......

Default i bought the harness from ECS...

it was $50, but it is super quality, and it comes already pre-wired for city lights.

i wired mine up initially with the yellow wires you get from the vw dealership, but one of them wiggled loose and melted itself into the harness and i lost low beams on that side, that's why i ended up getting the ECS piece.

Default These are the part #'s for the new style harness.

Buy 2 of the harness/plugs and 4 of the wires. The wires are pretty long and have a terminal at both ends. Cut them in half so you have 4 wires for each ecode. The wires plug directly into the new harness. pin #3 is for the city light.

Hmmm. I do have access to a 2000 parts car, maybe I'll see if I can rob the light harness/plugs.

Default also (as written by KMHPaladin)...

If you want to wire up city lights look at the wires going to the bulb holder for the turn signal. There will be three - one brown ground, and two power wires. One wire is for the blinking turn signal, and one is for the parking light. You want to cut the parking light wire. It is the noticeably thinner wire. Cut it, crimp it to the wire going to pin 3 on the plug going into your city lights, and now you should have your city lights at the first detent of the headlight instead of the parking lights.

Default that would probably be easier...

I was planning on doing that until I called Shokan and they wanted $30 a harness. :/
