I need to figure out how to wire them into my early '99..... I guess I could get the install wire kit, that's still available right? ECS or????
I'll find it.
Here's one of the lights anyway.

8DO-973-734 (harness) qty: 2
000-979-225-A (wire/terminal) qty: 4 (3+city lights)
I go everything for around $34.

It's just that the wire harness on the outside is the semi oval 7-8 pin connector and my early '99 has the other style plug......

it was $50, but it is super quality, and it comes already pre-wired for city lights.
i wired mine up initially with the yellow wires you get from the vw dealership, but one of them wiggled loose and melted itself into the harness and i lost low beams on that side, that's why i ended up getting the ECS piece.

Buy 2 of the harness/plugs and 4 of the wires. The wires are pretty long and have a terminal at both ends. Cut them in half so you have 4 wires for each ecode. The wires plug directly into the new harness. pin #3 is for the city light.

If you want to wire up city lights look at the wires going to the bulb holder for the turn signal. There will be three - one brown ground, and two power wires. One wire is for the blinking turn signal, and one is for the parking light. You want to cut the parking light wire. It is the noticeably thinner wire. Cut it, crimp it to the wire going to pin 3 on the plug going into your city lights, and now you should have your city lights at the first detent of the headlight instead of the parking lights.
