oil filter

So i have been told that I should only use an Audi oil filter when changing oil. Is this true or just another bull **** way for the stealership to get more money??? Also 0W-40 is the best right??

Be sure they sell you the big deisel one (off a Jetta from 89?). Don't trust anyone else to sell you the filter b/c it'll prob be the old smaller one on their lists. And 0w40 good if you're approaching 0 degrees.
