Default oil leaks - cam tensioner seals in 2.8l

the a6 board has numerous comments about oil leaks related to cam adjuster seain the 2.8l 1998 and later.

do the a4's have the same issues?

Default It may not be the correct way to fix it, but I fixed mine anyways. (more)

I have a 99.5 1.8T and had a very small (1-2 drops on the floor per day) cam seal leak. Rather than tearing the valve cover off and replacing a bunch of seals for a leak (which was not cracked, just leaking past the seal) I put some gasket sealant around the seal itself (on the outside of the engine) and the problem is fixed.

No DTC on my car, no more oil leaks...I hope this helps. If anyone reading this knows that just putting sealant around the cam tensionor seals (fromt the outside) is bad, by all means let me know. Until then, rock on! =)
