Oil light blinking for 30 seconds
Does anyone know how to get rid of the "oil" light blinking when turning on my 97 1.8T. I changed the oil, and ever since, the oil light blinks for about 30 seconds and then goes away...

Go back to the dealer to have it reset....
....with the VAG tool. Or if you can find someone local to you that has the VAG emulator on their laptop computer, they can reset it for you. Unlike the newer A4's, you can't reset the service reminders on your own.

If you had a nickel for every time you've said that...
you'd be a wealthy man. Well, maybe not wealthy, but you'd have a few extra bucks in your pocket.
Maybe Jason should give a quiz on the owner's manual before granting access to the forum. Of course, I'm kidding. Even though I read the manual cover to cover as soon as I got home from the dealer, I was still a bit alarmed the first time I saw the blinking In1.

Re: Oil light blinking for 30 seconds
If you're planning to do your own oil changes, ask the dealer to set the reminder for a very long interval (or disable it altogether if that is possible). That way you won't have to keep dealing with it. I haven't had mine done yet, but several people have reported that it is possible to set it to something like 99,999 miles. I plan to have it done at my 90K service, but the dealer will probably tell me it can't be done.
