Default Oil Pressure Light blinking.... I've searched all about the sludge/oil pump

My car is a 1999.5 1.8tqm. last night i got to my car, started it up and once i started driving the light would come on... first time ever. i checked the oil, it was alil low, so i topped it off but once i start moving again, the light would come on. i think people with the oil pump problem usually get the light when idled but im getting it when the car is moving. if i just turn the car on and sit there, the light would not come on. its sunday so i cant tow it to the dealer today, anybody else had this type of situation? changed my oil 2500 miles ago, been using mobil 1 synthetic 10w30 since the day i got it at 56k every 3- 3.5k. im at 99xxx miles now. any suggestions or help with similar problem appreciated. tia.

Default read the codes before it goes to the dealer

definately be on the defensive for the dealer to screw you on this. that doesn't mean to go in there with an attitude but to go in there with as much knowledge as you can first. It could just be a bad sensor but it seems unlikely considering the history of the 1.8t. Thank you again Audi.

Default I have seen sludge cars not trip the light at idle, only when moving...

Sounds like a sludge issue to me. You also should be using 5W-40 weight Castrol or Mobil 1 0W-40. The new German Castrol 5W-30 also meets all the approvals for VW/Audi and is available at Autozone...just make sure to look on the bottle and check to make sure that its made in Germany.

Motor flush it 2x, then fill w/ synthetic. Should get you by 'til dealer fix.

Default maybe, maybe not. depends on wether the dealer will service it under the sludge "action"

8 years and unlimited mileage. You might get lucky. which is why I said to be prepared to get screwed but go in with a good attitude and you might come out of this OK.

Don't flush the motor and fill with synthetic till you get it to the dealer either. The oil light means low pressure and it's not worth the risk to the motor or your time to do all of those oil changes when someone is going to have to drop that oil pan anyway.

Default I would tend to think it wasn't sludge...

Mostly because you've been running synthetic for nearly 50K miles, but who knows? If you have an oil pressure problem the minute you start moving, it does lead me to believe something is clogging the oil pick up line, or there is an issue with the oil pump itself. Either way, the motor isn't getting enough oil. At this stage, I would consider dropping the oil pan to have a closer look. And if you do that, you may as well replace the oil pump, pick up line, and any other tidbits while you're there.

AND you want the dealer to be able to replicate the problem.
