Default oil pressure sending unit dry

Hi my oil pressure light was coming on when my car is warm it will go on then go off I took out my sending unit it and the part that goes in the engine was dry and had no oil on it the oil level is fine any ideas my dash acts up sometimes things work and sometimes they dont I checked my turbo and it has no shaft play wouldn't it if I had low oil pressure

No oil on the sender? There won't be much, but you should find a little. You might have a clogged pickup screen, which is resonably common on the 1.8T engine. Connect a pressure gauge to the spot where the pressure switch goes, and see what the pressure is at various engine speeds.
