Default Oil pressure switch?

Hi guys, i am completely new to Audi cars, and also to this forum.

I have recently purchased a 1995 Audi A4 Quattro 2.6L V6 and I am finding that I am having problems with the oil pressure warning when taking the engine over 2000 rpm.

I have read through various other posts from other people having the same problem, so that has given me a start.

The car has been stood for about 2 years, so i plan to change the oil and oil filter as a matter of course. I was thinking of maybe changing the oil pressure sensor at the same time. I have seen other members here replacing theirs and 9 times out of 10, it seems to have solved the problem. Do you think that this would be worth while?

Now this is going to sound really stupid, and I'm embarrassed about asking this, but could someone please tell me where the oil pressure sensor is located on the car? Is it easy to get too? Do I have to drain out all the old oil first?

Thank you in advance

Tim

Oil pressure sensor is usually located around the oil filter housing.

It looks like this.

Thanks for that, I don't suppose you know what pressure (in BAR) the new pressure switch should cope with do you. I have seen a few that are listed as 1 - 8 bar. Do you think that would be adequate?

I do not know off hand. The sensor I provided a picture of is the right one for your vehicle. It's an OEM replacement. You can click on the picture to order.

No worries! At least now you have the part number so you can get it locally.

That's half the battle is getting the part number correct!

Cheers!

Ok, so I have now located and ordered the right part that I need. Thank you again for your help with that. I was wondering if I could ask for a little more help. It looks as though I need to get new rocker cover gaskets for the car. started it up today, only to be greeted with smoke coming from under the bonnet. It seems as though the oil is leaking directly onto the exhaust manifold. Wow, I had forgotten just how horrible the smell of burning oil is haha.

Any idea what the part number is for the gaskets that I need?

All the best
Tim

PM me a VIN and I'll be able to tell you if its a 12 or 30. Then get you the right part numbers for the gaskets.
