oil pump being replaced - long
Thought I'd share this. My low oil pressure light had come on not long after I got my 1.8TQ. After reading the archives here, I decided to change the oil and filter. Sure enough, the light went away for quite a while. Then it came back a few weeks ago. Each time the oil level was good, no leaks, etc. Carried it to the dealership today and they said the pressure was fluctuating quite a bit so they're putting a new pump on. Seems to me it's probably just the strainer but why not accept a new oil pump. The moral is, if you get a low oil pressure light, don't just put a new filter on. Take it in.

mine was replaced at 41k along with camshaft chain tensioner and gaskets
from reading our work order it sounds like it is quite a bit of work to do this.
i'm looking to put an oil pressure gauge in now since i'm pretty sure that would have given me earlier warning that there was a problem. we drove less than 1/2 a mile once the first warning light came on.
