Default Oil sensor error, exactly WHICH sensors could this be reffering to...

2.8l with Tip

So if you follow my other threads, my big red oil pressure light is on, ALONG with the yellow oil sensor error/alert/warning.

From what I understand (please correct if I am wrong), the SENSOR on the bottom of the oil pan sends level and temp info to the display, while the oil pressure SENDER simply sends OK or NOT OK signals to the display, not actual bar values.

Could the error be referring to EITHER of these sensor/senders or just a specific one? Figuring this out will help me figure out which one to replace.

The good news is that there does not seem to be an oil pressure issue, so the sensor seems to be the culprit.

Default Attached pic to show the sensor error... I'm puzzled nobody knows the answer to this...

It's kind of hard to see there, but the text next to the little oil can reads "sensor".

Default arent you the guy that bought this car knowing it had this problem and the owner told you what was

wrong?

Did you check out what he said and found he lied or what?

Not trying to be a d*ck, but it seems from previous posts and responses that you got many suggestions for this already.

Default

Change the cheaper and easier of the two sensors (probably oil level) and go from there?

Default Yeah, here is an update on the situation...

I didn't want to rehash it all, because like you said, we have been through most of it.

I now know the misfires were from oil getting in the plug wells due to a shredded breather hose, screwing up the vacuum and allowing oil to push past the gaskets. The hose is being replaced right now.

As for the oil sensor alert, yeah the guy said it had been yanked out when they were changing his oil, but I can't be sure about that.

I'm just trying to figure out which sensors that oil sensor alert can come on for, I purchased a replacement pressure sender, but don't want to have it replaced (from what I have a read, it's a fair amount of work), unless I know the sensor error could be attributed to that.

So yes, we did go through all this stuff, but I guess my question is more specific now:

Which of the two oil sensors/senders (level/temp & pressure) does that alert come on for?

Default Have you gotten under the hood and looked yet?

Because if it got damaged during an oil change, it almost certainly is not the sensor. You need to verify the wire harness from both sensors to the ECU.

Default Either would probably throw that alert, though if your temp gauge is working i'd find it hard

to believe that is the sensor that's bad.

i guess its possible for it to be 'sorta broke' but... unlikely..
