I have a 2001 A-4 1.8T . The oil sensor light
came on . It was replaced with a dealer part ,
and the light remained on.On a recent highway
trip the light would go out then come back on
with the one beep. The oil temp gauge also
has had no reading. One time when the light
went out , the oil temp gauge went to a normal
reading. But when the sensor display came
back on, the oil temp reading went to nothing
The fuses are ok, the water temp is always
correct The oil pressure is ok .
. Where does the oil temp gauge get its
reading and what would cause the oil sensor
to remain on after being replaced with a
factory part. Thanks

The oil temp is picked up by the oil level sensor
in the bottom of the oil pan. That was replaced
and the oil sensor display went off and the oil
temp gauge had the correct reading
in the bottom of the oil pan. That was replaced
and the oil sensor display went off and the oil
temp gauge had the correct reading
