The Castrol web site shows two brands of oil with the Syntec brand, Castrol Syntec and Castrol Syntec Blend.
The product sheet for Castrol Syntec indicates that it meets VW 502.00 but the product sheet for Castrol Syntec Blend does not.
Further, TSB C17-04-02 lists engine oils in the USA that meet VW 502.00 and Castrol Syntec is in the list and Castrol Syntec Blend is not.
The dealer is putting Castrol Syntec Blend in my 2000 A4 1.8T (they put in a reman engine in January so I'm going there for oil changes while it is under warranty).
STFA and I can't determine if they should not be using Castrol Syntec Blend. The TSB suggests that it does not meet VW 502.00.
Can anyone comment?
