Oil Temp Sensor/Sending Unit Location

Oil Temp Sensor/Sending Unit Location
I have a 2000 A4Q with the 1.8T and I am trying to find the oil teperature sending unit (sensor) because my oil temp gauge is dead.
I cannot find anywhere on the forums where this is located. The V6 guys claim that it is located by the oil filter, but the place where it should be only has a plug in it.
My local dealership didn't even know that the 1.8T had an oil temp gauge, so they sold me a sensor for a V6. Are they the same?
Is it located by my oil pan? Oil cooler? I can't even see around my oil cooler anyway.
Someone has to have had this same issue. Where did you find it?
Thanks for the help.

Nope. Connected to the oil pan instead.
I will post pics later, but for now for future reference, the Oil Temperature Sensor is located on the bottom of the oil pan of my 1.8T.
Unlike the single wire unit provided to me by my local Audi dealership, this one has three wires sticking out of it (most likely an oil pressure sensor as well). One was severed, so a little splicing later and now my oil temperature is registering in the gauge again.
I'll post pics a little later.
