Default OK...'97 A4; what is its stereo "chasis size", and what aftermarket CD players fit it.

I want to get the wife an in-dash CD player for her A4 for Christmas, and wanted to know if there are any CD players that fit the extra wide space for the stereo in the early A4s. I believe that most cars use DIN size, but the A4 uses something different.

I thought Bugbbq said that the Blau Tampa Bay was the right size....but it doesn't look it to me.

Thanks!

all you need is an adaptor plate that fills in the extra space... then put a 1/2 din head unit in

Default you need adapters.... Metra sells the kit... they fill up both right and left ends.

should cost you somewhere around $15-20 depending on where you go.. maybe even less.. a din will fit in there you just want to eliminate the gaps.. and thats what that will do. if you remove the radio you will see that a din size opening is there.. its just that Audi uses a longer faced radio.

Default If you get the trim plate made by Metra, and a regular DIN sized headunit, you will be all set..

The stock deck is really a din sized unit, but with an extra wide face. Here is a pic of the setup in my wife's car...

You mean a *single* DIN head unit.
