Default OK, couple questions about going from 2 piece housings to 1 piece

I have searched and all the info seems to be about going to euro's and hid's which seems to wire up differently.

I just want to go from '99 2 piece to oem 1 piece halogens.

Driving my car with stock xenons then driving my gf's car at night is like driving with no lights, it sucks.

So anyways, besides the fender trimming, will I need to cut any wires up? I see ECS has a wiring adapter, will I need that? If so, any other places to get it as their price seems expensive.

Anything else I should know about this? Thanks.

Default Get the ECS wiring adapter!!! It's awesome, trust me

Labled and everything. You just need to splice the wires and seal it up good where you spliced. Other than the fender trimming, that's pretty much it. You'll lose fogs too, but I'm sure you knew that.

ECS' wiring adapter is, as far as I can tell, simply the 99.5+ rectangular plug and wires with terminals. The Valeo "tech article" is pretty skimpy, but from what I can see, you're simply cutting the round connector going to your lights and splicing those wires to your terminal'd wires going into the new rectangular plug in the appropriate locations.

As for the parts, you can get them cheaper at the dealer. Credit to Randy@5280wheels or whatever his old screenname was...

The part numbers you will need are:

8DO-973-734 (harness) qty: 2
000-979-225-A (wire/terminal) qty: 3

You will need a total of 2 harnesses, and 3 wires. The wires have terminals on both ends, and you will need to cut each wire in half to get a pair, or a total of 6 wires and connectors (3 per side: low/high/ground). You will need to match the pin outs on the harness with the socket on the headlight housing- Be very careful that you are sure of which slots you press the terminals into as the wires have a clip that keeps them secure in the housing, and are quite a pain to try and remove. All said and done, I paid $25.00 from the dealer for these parts including tax, and it took them a couple days to get. The dealer was (to my surprise) the cheapest place I found them, and since they were local, I saved the cost of shipping. You should be able to wire the city lights up with this harness with no problem...
