Default Didn't you ever learn righty tighty, lefty loosey?

Counter-clockwise is the way you want to turn it. Are you coming at it from the top or the bottom?

Default lefty loosey, righty tighty

if it doesn,t want to budge, stab it with a screwdriver and turn in correct direction.

Default they can get real tight...

use an oil filter wrench. Worst case scenario take a long pencil and punch through it, then use it as leverage to loosen it off.

Cheers,

Default Haha pencil...i bent 2 heavy duty screw drivers the first time i did the oil change.

End up using one of those big metal stake/nail.

Default stabbing is messy. i got the end-cap 3/8" socket type filter wrench.

seems to work better than a conventional strap filter wrench in that tight space. $3 at autozone. large round "socket" slips over the end of the filter with any 3/8" ratchet.
