Default Depends: 12v has more normally aspirated mods for upto 230 hp . . .

and will beat almost any normally aspirated modded 30v due to having over 150 lbs less weight and making more than 215 hp (the usual max for a 30v w/ chip, intake & exhaust mods).

However, 30v has tunable chip which will allow for the addition of a supercharger for nearly 300 hp at a cost of about $6000. Nearly as fast a 1.8t stage III.

Both 2.8l cars make very driveable hp. Not as fast in a straight line as a modded 1.8t, but faster in the turns due to more predicatable, linear power curves. It takes a highly skilled driver to make full use of a turbo in the twisties, e.g., Hans Stuck was a master at eliminating the unstabilizing effect of turbo kick while driving at the limits of adhesion.

Default Less can go wrong with a 12v - KISS!

The 30v has fragile camshaft tensioners, eats oil, and has 30 valves that can go bad.

Now, FLAME ME! :-P
