What you just said really doesn't make any rational sense. The examples you gave are engines built for boost. The 2.8 is not. There is a huge difference. It's not a simple matter of displacement.
More displacement = more HP if it's an apples to apples comparison. What you're doing is an apple to oranges comparison.

where you fall on it. If you have to build the motor, 4 cylinders is cheaper than 6 cylinders. If you need to build the head, 1 bank is cheaper than 2 banks.
