Default Got her lightly used. had been ran only a few months.

Guy actually had two of them (!!) and needed one for in case he jacked the other one during mods. He runs water injection, a few other things. We're brainstorming on design of a temp plate to go between the charger and manifold. I know it can be done----but might need a bump in the hood.

Default Agreed 100%. Much of it depends not only on where you start, but your ultimate goal as well..

and of course throw in the old 'speed costs money--how fast do you want to go?'

Default I had emntioned in the one post about having to upgrade internals at some point. I agree--

at some point there's goign to be no getting around it. Of course, same can be stated about the 1.8T, too, my man. A 1.8T that was originally rated at what, 180hp, cannot be reasonably expected to handle 350 or 370 hp for long, if at all, with stock internals. At SOME point, there is goign to be catastrophic failure--that's not even a 'maybe' kinda' deal--it is a foregone conclusion--and the laws of physical dynamics tell us that the weakest link in the equation will fail first, and that is usually the rods.

Default Would be interesting to see if those gentlemen ever actually got it off the drawing board...

I am sure it would sell. The increase in potential hp would be significant and well worth it, within reason of course. I still say a temp plate is the way to go, though.

Default here are benfica09 's results with his '98.5 2.8 with a PES G2 SC on AWE's dyno

although his car wasn't 100% (see link), I don't agree. look at the numbers and area under the curves for a stage 3 1.8T for the same money. both cars should have an exhaust and clutch.

Default AEB and ATW blocks can handle at least 400hp all day long.

Forged rods and pistons FTW.

Default There's more to a engine block that is designed for forced induction than just the internals.

You seem to be overlooking this fact...

Good luck with the project, it should be quite interesting to watch. Not to be a nay-sayer, but you may want to look into doing a G1 style charger setup if you're really reaching for a reliable-(er) 400 hp.

Default Agreed, the G2 kits don't make much torque, due to the design of the intake manifold

A properly setup G1 however, can make the torque, here's my dyno from when I was running a G1 at about 10 psi of boost (the second run got cut short due to incorrect piggy-back settings)

Default If I was going to approach an engine rebuild involving new pistons in a V6....

I'd give some consideration to sourcing a 2.7T block with four bolt mains. Just for good measure.
