Default ok...just added a CD changer...recoded...not working WTF?

I installed a panasonic cd changer, i have the bose stereo.

I followed this link for recoding...i tried 00107 and 00117. the original coding was 00115.

the CDC button is not lighting up. a cd is in the changer. actually a CD-R. would that matter?

also, the panasonic changer came from a fellow AW'er with an adapter cable....i didnt use this, is this the problem?

Thanks

Default I dont think you need to recode for changer to work

It should be plug and play.

Default You don't have a Bose stereo!

Depending on the year of your car you have a Blaupunkt, Panasonic or Sony with the Bose option.

Default well...

a) the adapter looked like an extension cable
b) the cables from the car and changer connected together perfectly
c) blah blah...

apparently the "adapter" adapts the changer electrically, not physically (as i expected)

Default Heh...you're supposed to use all the parts!

Usually these name brand changers will work with a factory head unit if you swap two of the pins on the harness. That's usually what these adaptor cables do.

If you search, you'll find the pin diagram, and a notation on exactly which pins are swapped in order to get the changer to communicate with the head unit.
