Default eeeeeeeh..

I guess that was not completely fair me to say that... But I do know a handfull of people who have had premature blown k04's, but.... also know a handfull of guys who have had no problem with the k04.

It almost seems like the k04 is hit or miss. Who knows.

I'm beginning to think that a k04, pc16 file and the supporting mods will put a smile on dungbeetle's face... as long as the turbo lasts long enough : P

"hit or miss" is exactly the term I've used to describe K04 reliability. Good ones seem to last

Default Re: Good points, thanks! I am at sea level so that helps me a lot...

"An "after-run" timed and/or temp sensitive coolant pump seems like a good idea though?"
I wouldn't bother, personally. A well-running K04 1.8T shouldn't need it.

"Do you have any thoughts on the high flow cat?"
Yeah, get one. Seriously. Do it. You will feel a difference in power by porting/polishing the OEM manifold and adding a HFC to a free-flowing exhaust.
FWIW, mTm specs a p/p OEM manifold and HFC with their K04 kit.
