Default OK... so I go to my dealer to see how much it would be to put in a CD changer....

in my wifes '01 1.8TQMS and they quote me $531.00 installed. $531.00!!

Is it me or does this seem a little unreasonable?!

Does anyone know if I have other options (ie. third party hardware, etc.) when it comes to hooking up a CD changer in the A4?

I'm ruling out those FM modulators CD changers because I'd like to have everything work seamlessly (no remote) with what's already been pre-wired. In other words... I want her to use her existing radio buttons etc.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Default circuit city, best buy, tweeter, local stereo shop

buy a pre-owned one and pay for the install. i'm sure it won't be half a grand.

Default OEM 6-disc changer, $199 here -->

It's pretty easy to install it yourself. I don't think you need the $50 mounting bracket. Your car should have it already. All you need is 4 mounting screws - get them from the dealer or from a local hardware store.

http://www.audiquattroparts.com/audio/radio.htm</a

Default Did some research... Can only use factory changer. Dealer charges $388.. Clairparts charges $314 ..

Any other ideas on where I can get one cheaper?

FYI... it's a Christmas present.

Default if not, try 1-800-ALL-AUDI. I'm sure they'll have it for around this much.

Used to be $165 earlier this year, but I think that special is over now.

Default You did poor research my friend.

Panasonic DP-601 or Panasonic DP88 work just fine in your car. All you require is a PIE AUD/PC-PAN6 for the DP-601 or a PIE AUD/PC-PAN8 for the DP88.

Difference is 6 disc or 8 disc.

PIE is www.pie.net.

It works perfectly fine. Idid it myself.

The difference however is to mount it you need to get a little creativr with screws/washers/spacers. But it's well worth the savings.

Default I bought a factory changer from Shokan for $165 and put it in myself in 15 min.

I think my dealer wanted like $600 for the changer and install.

Quick Reply: OK... so I go to my dealer to see how much it would be to put in a CD changer....
