Okay, so the JE (front lower control arms) service action is expired. How to inspect these?
The whole point of the letter was that it's difficult to see damage with a visual inspection.
I see a tech article for replacing the whole control arm set, but I couldn't find anything for just performing the inspection.

Tug on them in all directions. There should be no play (movement) what so ever in any of them.
Clunk, thunk, and popping sounds are signs one or more of the arms are bad.
Also, always replace in pairs.

NP. If you decide to replace them, I suggest you get the Febi-Bilstein contol arms
from PureMS. If they're not listed on the site, call them and ask for that brand of arms. Great price and nice quality.
