Yup only second. Even rev matching doesn't work.

Default Raj... do you have more info on what actually causes it?

I've had 2nd gear crunch on all my manuals in the cold, three Hondas and the Audi. Just curious as to what's doing the crunching.

I've learned to avoid with some modified double clutching when it's really cold.

Default only on the first 1 or 2... if it has been sitting out for overnight at sub 10 or so..

the other night I stayed at the GF's house... and thus parked outside not in my garage, and it was crunhing once or twice on the first 2 or 3...

Default 2nd gear, who needs that

Leaving home after the car has been in the garage over night I usually just skip 2nd gear because the car doesnt want to shift into it. My porsche is the same way, so I just skip 2nd and go right to 3rd.

Now that you mention it,No......not anymore. Put Red line MT90 in it at the end of summer.

Rev matching is not the same as double clutching.

Default I think it's the synchro that's doing the crunching, but I'm not 100% sure.

I can't even begin to explain the mechanics of the crunch...but if you do a search on how synchros work, and then take away that function by virtue of the fact that the fluid ain't moving, you should come up with a reasonable idea of what's going on.

Yeah, my A4 did this, and my Integra did this as well. On the Integra I switched to Red Line, and it helped, but didn't eliminate it. On the A4 I just double clutched for the first couple miles. I didn't bother changing the fluid since my experience with the Acura told me it would still remain to some degree. That's why I'm a little shocked with the S...it's not there at all. Based on some of the responses in this thread, a fluid change may just fix this (and save the 2nd gear synchro, for those that aren't double clutching).
