Default And I'm really lazy, Is it ok to....

Just suck out the old fluid and pour in the new, or should the OEM fluid be drained properly from somewhere?

Default Not sure...ask just dave.

I think there is a drain hole, but I think you need to shove something in there to suck out all the old fluid. I think refilling it requires something to pump it back in. Being under the car, it's not like you can open a cover and drop the fluid it (like engine oil). When the car is jacked up, you're under it, and you have to force the fluid up and into the opening.

Default Re: how much do I need and what retail location has it.

I don't know of any retail stores that carry it; however, you may try your local car repair shops specializing in import cars. Also, see the link below for a list of Redline dealers.

I can't remember how much you need, but 4 quarts sounds about right in my head. Do a search on this forum to confirm, as well as to find out about the special tool that you need for the drain plug.

http://www.redlineoil.com/dealers.htm</a

Default my '95 90 tranny came with synthetic, which was flushed and filled at the 90k service. It was like

getting a short shifter. I will defenitely replace the tranny fluid earlier than that in my A4. I think I'll be doing all fluids and filters, belts, tensioners, etc. at 50k. Damn, that bill is going to be a big one... I will definitely complain loudy about the timing chain tensioner that is rattling. Maybe they'll discount the labor for the TB. If not, I'll look into having someone else do it. I'll probably do that service at Autohaus at the lower labor rate.

Raj, why not just ask Dominic the next time your in for service?

Default I'll do it next Saturday if I can drive it out to my parent's place in their heated garage :-)

Actually, the woman is going to a bridal shower for one of our friends. So, I have the day to detail the A4 - it needs it, badly.

Default 20 degrees this morning. That's cold enough for me. Last winter it would *crunch*

this winter it does not.

Default That's very thoughtful...however I'm already 600 miles overdue for the oil change.

I'm sure I'll tack on another 300 this weekend. I've been waiting for *one* warm day to do this myself, and finally caved in and called the dealer yesterday.

BTW, what are you doing Sunday? PaJohn and I were going to get together to do some suspension testing at KoP mall. He wanted to do it before the game so he could get home...I'm thinking maybe we can get some folks together at Champs in KoP for the game (I'm not really interested in football, but since I'm already out there, we could make a meet out of it). Skene is always bitching (there's nothing to do in Philly), we could invite him? Thoughts?
