Default One axle breaks (quattro), car won't move?

Following a recent lower control arm failure (read : absolute breakage / snappage), I got the car repaired and wrapped up, and prepared to take it for a test drive. I pop the car into gear (5 spd) and notice the car won't move! The speedo registers but the car isn't moving anywhere. Turns out the front passenger axle is broken. Now, shouldn't the rear still be transmitting power since the center diff is split 50/50? The fact is, when I try to engage the clutch while the car is in gear, the front right axle spins (but does nothing since it's in two pieces) and nothing else happens.

Is it supposed to work like this? Or is there something wrong here?

I thought Torsen was 50/50? So I guess if one wheel ever lost traction completely (ice / stuck in the air) the car wouldn't move at all?
