Default one cylinder not firing...

...after feeling the car lose power and the acceleration very rough, we found that there was no spark in the no.2 cylinder. i changed the spark plugs first, then we tested to see if there was power coming from the ecu (which there was), tried switching around the coil packs, but still the same problem. had the car VAGd and a throttle position sensor fault came out. Can this really be related to the electrical? Need your help please!

Is your 99.5 or older? If yes, probably the Ignition Control Module (ICM)

Default Replace the ICM yourself and save some big $

Buy it online from a WorldPac auto parts supplier.
Stealer sells it for around $350. and would probably charge at least 1/2 hour of labor to install. What a rip as it is right on top of the airbox!
I bought/installed the Beru. The Huco, which wasn't offered when I bought, is very reasonable at $97.20 + shipping.

http://www.europeanautomotive.com/catalog-exec/</a

Default Call 800-vw-parts...they have used and new ICM's. Great price.

I bought one used and its been running fine ever since. There's no way I could justify spending the $350 at the dealership.

Very common for the 97. I replaced mine earlier this year.
