Default One stupid question and one that maybe isn't stupid about a power steering fluid flush...

In this link, it appears that the descriptions of each line in the picture are reversed. Since this is of an A6, I want to make sure my guess is right for my A4. The smaller line to the resevoir is the return, right? I traced the larger line going to the pump and I thought "why would the pump return the fluid directly?"

Now the question I hope isn't stupid. Is there a filter on A4s like in this article? I don't know where it came from in this article, but it appears to just be a filler filter (like the brake fluid resevoir).

http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/susp_whls_brake_steer/psflush.html</a

Default there's a thread about flushing power steering for the A4 that references that article somewhere

[edit]

I need to flush mine too, so I went and found it.

Default Also: To get all the fluid, you're supposed to go from lock to lock. Do the wheels have to be off...

the ground for this? Is it really necessary to flush the rack, or is it just a small amount of fluid that will get blended with the new fluid the next time you go lock to lock?

Default There is a screen inside that pops out, but I couldn't see any way to remove

it from the reservoir itself.
