Default oops...one more thing...hood insulation...

why the hell does our jetta have hood insulation, but the a4 doesn't? my hood gets toasty after long trips...i'd like to buy the insulation pkg. if possible. do they make it?

Default which year and engine do you have ?

I have v6 and mine have hood insulation I thought every Audi has one...

Default yeah but it means that your engine is venting off more heat.....think about it.......

would you rather have your hood a few degrees warmer or your engine a few degrees warmer?

The 2.8's came with insulation, but I think it's more for sound insulation than any real functional reason.

I've actually been tempted to remove my insulation, I would think it's better for the engine.

Insulation was added in the 99 model year I believe.

I have a 00' a4 1.8t and i took mine off, I belive it helps ventilation.

Default I added it on my 98 as I had to have the hood re-painted after it yellowed...

right above the cat/turbo from K04 and LOTS of track time.

Default on that note, is it better to remove our plastic valve covers to encourage airflow?

same principle as hood insulation 'holding in the heat'.

i'm scared of burning the paint. maybe it will never get that hot, though. after all, if many of them DON'T...
