Default opinions: k04 giac software

have 97 aeb, auto with k04 running stock ecu. stock exhaust, stock smic. new maf last year. ngk brk7e's. stock injectors.

getting great deal on giac k04 pc-16 software.

question: would you downgrade to regular giac k04 software? or add bigger injectors (prob 32# ford fi and 5 bar fpr (out of stock at tyrolsport)? i know you're suppose to get an exhaust and fmic, but funds are tight and it's not in the immediate plans.

want SAFE, reliable hp/torque w/o damaging the engine since i blew up one last summer running apr k03 on k-04 turbo. (threw 2 rods and catastropic engine damage requiring new remanu aeb long block.

i'm in nyc and don't know how much tyrol sport would charge to downgrade the giac software.

thanks in advance

Default you need 310-315cc (bosch redtop) injectors for PC-16, and yes -- you need an FMIC to keep your IATs

low and, as such, your CFs low enough -- especially if you don't have 93 or 94 octane available.

A K04 won't damage your motor. something else was wrong.

PC16 is plenty safe and reliable.

Default If you want safe I'd downgrade the SW. The K04 is being pushed very hard @ PC-16 levels.

It will run it, and feel great, but honestly it's way past being all that efficient in those higher rpm/hp levels.

For "safe" as you stated you wanted, swap the chip with someone who wants to upgrade. You could probably get a standard K04 file and like $50-100 in your pocket.

Default I was in a similar situation last year and got the PC16 downgraded to regular K04 software

it was $25+shipping from AWE. Another $25+shipping to get the PC16 put back on.

Default I like my k04 software, and the Bosch Motorsport 5 bar FPR is easy enough to find...

now that I found the distributor (Mech-Tronic Centerport, NY) , thanks to Bosch.de It is not the modified 4 bar but the actual 5 bar. And they cost about $150

Default Question regarding FPR

I also run the MTM K04 software (99.5)
I've been using a crushed 4 bar regulator because at the time I got it, my MTM guy couldn't get me a true Bosch Motorsport 5 bar regulator. Do you think it would really make a difference?

Default K04 moves more air than K03...

software is not going to be able to push enough fuel to keep it from going lean. Lean is bad.
