RS6 - why not? Personally, I wouldn't pay that much money for *that* car...but that's just me. If he's decided not to get the RS6, let's move along.
B6 S4 - will probably be a great car, if not a bit expensive. The 3.0 motor should eliminate the turbo lag that is evident with the current 2.7T engines, making the car appear VERY quick off the line. The real question is will your father feel comfortable in this car? The answer is "probably not". It's quite a bit smaller than the A6, and for someone that has grown comfortable in the A6, it will probably feel a bit confining.
A6 4.2 - A shoe in I think! Not as expensive as the RS6, and very easy to obtain. Has the wider wheels and fender arches to give it an aggressive look. A very torquey engine pulls hard and quietly at all speeds! It's more powerful than a stock 2.7T, and quieter to boot! Still has that room and comfort your father has probably grown to love in his current A6, but with the added sport seats! :-)

Finding a cream puff should be easy...I see a ton of them down by Princeton, and they are always being driving 55 mph by a little old lady (well, sometimes an old man too). Worse case, you end up with one that has a little carbon build up...nothing an Italian tune up can't take care of! :-)
