OT: wtf and where the F#$% did "bling-bling" come from?

OT: wtf and where the F#$% did "bling-bling" come from?
I live in NYC and this is a common expression and all, but whatever happened to using "phat" "off the meter-rack-rock-etc" "butter" "god damn that **** be hot" "what that is, be fly yo"???
Im 23, and at my age living in an urban environment exposed to all of this has really gotten to me. But until I heard bling bling, is where I truly drew the line. Because of Bling Bling, I gave up my Fubu wear, and cross colors in favor of Eddie Bauer and Banana Replublic. I no longer will subject myself to such horrid ebonic slangs so that I could reduce my vocabulary.
Just last week, I moved out of Queens and into good ol Glen Cove Long Island to taste what it's like to live in suburbia. Ahhh the fresh breeze, birds singing, white people driving benz's and greeting me with a warm "hidee ho neighbor"... until... I hear P.Diddy coming around the corner in the form of a really loud rumbling Civic with black window tints, Rolls them down as he makes his 2mph fly-by... only to hear him greet me with "bling-bling"<ul><li><a href="http://magicarc.hn.org">http://magicarc.hn.org</a</li></ul>
