spent all night working on the car last night, and stayed completely sober in doing so (installed the disc brake shields/ plastic air deflectors on bumper bottom).
while there i took the pads off, lubed the calipers, switched snows to summers, etc.
at the end (1am), when backing the car out of the garage to sweep, i hit the brakes as i neared the wife's car and f*n SLAMMED into it because there was 'no pedal'.
DOH!!!!! *shakes head* "pump the brakes first, dumbass". how EMBARRASING in front of the neighbors (if they saw).
this weekend i'm working late again to realign the rear bumper. sigh.

I'm always afraid of doing something like that...so I'll usually chant to myself "pump the brakes pump the brakes" as I'm bolting the car back together. So far I've avoided that mishap...but one day....

yeah I've been there and I grabbed for the e-brake and put the car back into neutral. Alternatively you can kill the ignition.
I can understand that at 1am you were probbaly not on your A-game but when working on brakes you should be on your A-game, so maybe 1am is not the best time to be working on that part of the car.
