Default with out having to go to the dealer or junk yard...
where could i pick up an oem rear license plate bracket for '96 a4?

i tried ebay already as well... nothing, i thought maybe something like a clairparts or 1stvw.

Default its a dealer item, so...dealer or junkyard.
Even if you get it online its going to have to come from a dealer.

That being said you should be able to get it from worldimpex.com they seem to have most of the dealer-only parts.
