Trying to change my outer tie rod ends and the outer tie rod end is frozen where it screws into the inner tie rod.
Have soaked it in liquid wrench for a few hours which hasn't helped.
Any advice on how to get the sucker out?
I have a propane torch, should I be careful applying heat to it? Obviously there's the plastic boot to be careful of but is there anything inside the inner tie rod I could melt?
thanks!!

or did you pull on the outer tie rod itself? (it flexes so its difficult to get a good "break").
Tried the propane torch, how long should I hold it on there for?
thanks!

the threads stop before you get to the end and you may strip the nut if you push it past the threads. i cut slots in a few washers and slid them on so the nut was still on threads but jammed up against the end.
actually, that didn't help too much because i was pulling so hard the nut started to strip while on the threads. i think i'll end up replacing the inner as well. there's no way that thing is coming off (while still on the car)

If I don't get it off by tomorrow I think I'm going to order a set of inners. What a pain.

It takes awhile for liquid wrench to be effective, I find its more effect if left overnight.
If your going to use a torch, use the one in the "yellow" bottle which has a hotter mixture then the blue. The heat will 9 times out of ten, break it looose easily.

which made it pretty much impossible to remove. Ended up bringing to the shop and they had to remove both the inner and outer to get it lose.
